Valve has officially dropped the Cache rework in a new CS2 update, adding the beloved map to Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes. After years of waiting, Cache is finally back where it belongs.
Cache Returns to CS2
One of Counter-Strike’s most celebrated maps has made its long-awaited comeback. Valve’s April 29, 2026 update adds the reworked version of Cache to Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes, putting it back in rotation for the first time since 2019.
Cache originally entered the Active Duty pool back in 2014, quickly becoming a fan favourite. Its removal from Active Duty in 2019 left a void that the CS2 community has been vocal about ever since. Today, that wait is over.

- Dust II — The Mid Box (Xbox) has been uncovered to reveal a previously hidden jump spot. As the patch notes put it: “On purpose this time.”
- Office — Collision enabled on the tarp over boxes near CT spawn, closing off an unintended movement exploit.
- Stronghold — Updated to the latest version from the Community Workshop.
- Poseidon — Updated to the latest version from the Community Workshop.
Animgraph 2 — Weapon Animations
- Minor adjustments to viewmodel animations for a smoother first-person experience.
- Talon and Karambit knives are now held correctly while defusing.
Sound Fixes
- Minor audio mix adjustments across the board.
- Fixed an issue where the C4 equip sound was not being interrupted by other equip sounds.
- Removed the first-person death sound effect that fired when a music kit death cue was inaudible.
Miscellaneous Fixes
- Shader fix for Ambient Occlusion (AO) — the overly dark, chunky silhouette issue visible on railings in Mirage is now resolved.
- Fixed an exploit where requesting a hand switch immediately after throwing a grenade could leave the player holding no weapon.
