Picking a knife in CS2 is one of the biggest purchases you’ll make for your inventory. It’s out every single round, it defines your loadout, and the knife you carry tends to say something about you as a player. With 20 types in the game and prices ranging from under $50 to well over $1,000, it’s worth knowing what you’re buying.
This list ranks every CS2 knife on animations, design, community standing, and value for money.
1. Karambit
The most recognised knife in Counter-Strike history. Curved blade and iconic spinning animation. Doppler and Gamma Doppler at the top end, but even a cheaper finish on a Karambit looks the part. The default choice for a reason.
2. Butterfly Knife
If the Karambit wins on prestige, the BFK wins on animations. The deploy, the inspect, the idle, all unique, all satisfying, and unlike anything else in the game.
3. M9 Bayonet
Military blade and serrated edge. Marble Fade and Doppler on the M9 are some of the best looking knife skins in CS2. Solid animations and strong market.
4. Talon Knife
Aggressive curved blade that sits closer to the Karambit than anything else in the lineup. Smooth animations, strong visual identity, and holds value well. If you like the look of a Karambit but want something slightly less played out, the Talon is the choice.
5. Stiletto Knife
The switchblade deploy is one of the most satisfying animations in the game and it tends to fly under the radar compared to the knives above it. Looks great on Doppler and Fade.
6. Skeleton Knife
Open frame design that nothing else in CS2 replicates. Strong visual identity at every wear level and looks genuinely unique. Not for everyone, but if it’s your thing, there’s nothing else like it.
7. Kukri Knife
The newest knife on this list. Heavy, aggressive blade profile. Fade on the Kukri has become one of the liked new knife skins in the game.
8. Huntsman Knife
Large clip-point blade with a solid deploy animation and a look that works at any price point.
9. Flip Knife
An OG. Back in the early CS:GO days, half the pro AWPers were running Flip Knives and that association stuck. Also got a sound upgrade in February 2026. Not the flashiest knife in the game but it has history and the Fade and Doppler finishes genuinely look good on it.
10. Classic Knife
The CS 1.6 knife rebuilt for CS2. Clean design, understated, and has a hidden animation where it gets tossed in the air. Tends to get slept on because it’s not loud, but it pairs well with almost any glove or loadout.
11. Paracord Knife
No unique animations but the design is clean and it carries well in a loadout. One of the better budget options.
12. Nomad Knife
Tanto-style tip, tactical look, and sits in a similar bracket to the Paracord.
13. Bowie Knife
The concept is cool, big blade, intimidating presence, but it’s too large in the viewmodel and ends up looking a bit off. Has its fans and some finishes work better than others. Not a bad knife, just hard to recommend over what’s above it.
14. Ursus Knife
Fine blade shape, nothing wrong with it, but the animations don’t do it any favours. A step up from the bottom of the list but not by much. Budget pick that you’ll probably want to move on from.
15. Falchion Knife
The rarest animation in the game, the palm balance on inspect, is a genuinely cool quirk, but it’s not enough to carry the knife. One of the weaker flip-out options and there are better choices at every price point.
16. Survival Knife
Design has potential but the animations let it down badly. Clunky deploy, nothing interesting in the inspect. Hard to justify when the Paracord and Nomad exist in the same range.
17. Shadow Daggers
The only dual-wield option in CS2, which at least makes it unique. Community has always been split on them, some players love the concept, most don’t.
18. Navaja Knife
Small blade, standard animations, nothing that stands out.
19. Gut Knife
The original budget knife and still the cheapest way into the knife market. Ugly by most and the animations are completely flat.
Which One Should You Buy?
Karambit if you want the best all-round knife in the game. Butterfly if animations are your priority. Flip Knife or Classic Knife if you’re working with a mid-range budget and don’t want to compromise too much. And if you want cheap, the Gut Knife or Navaja gets you off the default while you save for something better.
